Looking up my Past
I remember my friend Joanna from Boulder. We still write each other occasionally. She was a real estate agent, and her husband was a playwright. Their two girls are now grown, and both back in Boulder. I never knew the younger one, and the older one was young. I met Joanna at the Boulder County Victim’s assistance Program at the D.A.’s office. We both were helping with clients who were raped or abused. We thought alike, and still do. She manages now to live off her properties, and all four of them are doing great. I wish I had lived by her and been able to have my kids in Boulder schools. It might have made a difference.
What made us not see each other over the years? One was my chaotic life, and, her girls were young, and she went to Playwrighting contests and stuff with Stu.
I really see that connection as a missed opportunity for both of us, but We do still appreciate each other. Now I may be able to see her at some point. I really hope so. My other two friends, Amy and Kate, moved to New York then Missouri then Illinois and Kate moved back to Australia. So, I have not seen either of them except a couple of times. But that it better than Joanna. She had snowy blonde hair and blue eyes, and she was about as blonde as I’ve ever seen. And just as delightful.
